Seiko SNZF17 Watch Review
Seiko SNZF17 Dial & Case Design
Like any good diving timepiece, the Seiko SNZF17K1 features a high contrasting easy to read dial. The hands and hour markers have a nice bold design and are coated in a good amount of high quality lume. There’s also a handy day and date display located at the 3 o’clock position.
The casing is made of a strong stainless steel and features an exhibition glass caseback to let you view the movement of the watch. Also note that the crown does not screw down.

Seiko Sea Urchin Type Of Crystal
The Seiko SNZF17 features a Hardlex crystal glass which is common fro Seiko timepieces. This is a stronger glass than mineral crystal and offers a good level of scratch and knock resistance.
Seiko Sea Urchin Watch Movement
At the heart of the Seiko Sea Urchin is a 7S36 automatic self-winding movement. It’s a 23 jewel movement that runs at 21,600 BPH that gives it a really nice and smooth 6 ticks per second. This Sea Urchin movement has a 43 hour power reserve and doesn’t feature manual winding or hacking.
Seiko SNZF17 Watch Size
The Seiko SNZF17 has a nice 41mm casing diameter without including the crown. The thickness of the casing comes in at 12mm giving it an overall nice profile.
Seiko SNZF17 Strap
The strap of this watch is made of stainless steel and has a width of 22mm which goes well with the 41mm casing size. It’s a fold over style clasp with a safety catch. If you want to you can replace the strap to something more your style.
Seiko Sea Urchin Extra Features
One of the main features of this watch is the exhibition style caseback that allows you to take a look at the inner workings of the 23 jewel automatic movement through the back of the watch. This is one of my favourite features on watches.
Seiko SNZF17K1 Water Resistance Rating
This is a Seiko diver style timepiece and as such comes with what I would class as the minimum rating for this type of watch. The Seiko Sea Urchin has a 100m water resistance rating. A 100m or 10 bar water resistance rating makes this watch suitable for recreational surfing, swimming, snorkeling, sailing and water sports.
