My Initial Thoughts On This Watch

This is a rather stunning looking sports edition from Bulova, you get the sports bit primarily from the silicone style strap. The silicone strap does make it extra durable though so will be ideal for outdoors use.

You may not quite be able to tell from the picture I’ve used above but the inner part of the dial has a very nice textured design which is something I’ve always liked in a watch.

It’s got this great oversized weighty feel to it whilst maintaining this elegant yet style. I’m keen to take a proper look at the specifications below

Type of glass

This watch features a specially hardened mineral glass, this type of glass is very common in watches around this price range. It will resist most scratches and any that do get through can usually be buffed out.

It’s not quite a sapphire glass but then again I wouldn’t expect to find that on a Bulova in this price range.

Size

I mentioned earlier this is a nice larger watch with a casing diameter of 43mm it’s classed as large, the thickness of the case is 12mm, again also considered large. This adds up to the watch being nice and noticeable on your wrist without being too big.

Calendar

The Bulova watch features a standard date display at the 3 o’clock position, I like the little rose gold detailing box it’s housed in, it’s a nice touch.

Watch strap and clasp

As I said earlier, the strap is made of silicone making it a lot more durable and comfortable for wearing during outdoor activities, it’s a lot more suitable than a metal strap that’s for sure. The straps width is 22mm which is just above the average but sits nicely with the larger casing of the watch.

The clasp that they’ve gone for here is a standard buckle, I wasn’t expecting anything more than this here so I’m quite happy with this.

Conclusion

I don’t often showcase ‘sports’ watches here but it is something I’m keen to get into. I rather like this watch, but then again I like most Bulova watches, they often have designs and styles that really appeal to me. This 98B261 comepltely does it for me, I really love the blend of the rose gold casing with the black bezel, dial and strap. Overall I think you’re getting a very nice looking watch for a good price. If you’re something a lot more durable for outdoors then you should look at the Casio G-Shock watches.
