G-Shock G9300 Review
My rating: 8.5/10. Tough Solar Durable Digital Watch.
Today I’m doing a G-Shock G9300-1 review. The G-Shock G9300-1 Mudman or G-Shock G9300 as it’s also known is the much-anticipated update to the Mudman, which is part of the Master of G series.
This is a popular mid range watch that’s built with a durable design in mind, mud resistant build, solar movement, and many more features that we’ll talk about later in the review.
G-Shock G9300 Technical specifications
To get things started we’re going to be taking a quick look at the general watch specifications of the G-Shock Casio G9300-1. This gives you the chance to get a quick grasp on some of the more important details of the watch before we later go into detail about each section as a whole.
- Model Number: G9300-1
- Crystal Material: Mineral crystal
- Case Diameter: 51mm
- Case Thickness: 18mm
- Movement: Tough Solar Quartz
- Water Resistance: 200m / 20 bar

G-Shock G9300-1 Dial and Casing Design
Casio’s range of G-Shock watches are built to be extremely durable by nature. This watch features a stainless steel casing that houses the movement, this is protected by the thick resin surround that offers this impressive about of protecting from bumps and shock resistance.
The sheer 51mm diameter of the casing makes this a popular oversized watch. It also has a thickness of 18mm making it quite the chunky timepiece on your wrist.
A key feature of the G-Shock Mudman is of course it’s mud-resistant design. This is very useful it you’re after a rugged outdoor watch.
The dial uses a digital LCD display and shows various bits of information available with this G-Shock watch. A backlight feature is available to light up the watch making it visible in dim lit conditions for easier reading.
Like any good G-Shock watch the Mudman G9300-1 has some useful extra functions and features. There’s a thermometer, moon graph, digital compass, alarm, date display, dual time display, and perpetual calendar.
The moon graph helps you to see when the new moon or full moon is going to occur. The digital compass is used to indicate the direction where the watch is currently facing and heading in degrees. Whilst the thermometer gives you a fairly accurate reading of the current temperature, note that the watch has to be off your wrist to use this feature accurately.
Casio 9300-1 Crystal
This durable G-Shock watch from Casio features a mineral crystal glass lens. This type of glass has been specially hardened to make it tougher, offering you a better level of scratch and shatter resistance to your watch. This is a popular type of glass found in many watches from affordable to high end.
It’s well suited to this type of timepiece due to the shatter resistance that it offers, for a watch that’s designed to offer shock resistance this is the perfect choice in my opinion. You wouldn’t want to go for the more expensive sapphire crystal glass, that’s because, while it does offer much better scratch resistance, you actually have a lower amount of shatter resistance.
Strap & Clasp
The strap of the G-Shock Mudman G9300 is made of a comfortable thick black rubber. This strap has a width of 20mm which is inkeeping with the size of the casing nicely. It fastens with a single tang buckle that has a stainless steel clasp.

Mudman G-Shock G9300-1 Water Resistance
The water resistance rating of the G-Shock G9300 is a very impressive 200m, also known as 20 bar. As per wikipedia, this is suitable for professional marine activity, serious surface water sports and skin diving.
Many of the Casio G-Shock range offer quality water resistance ratings so it’s no surprise to see a 200m rating in this durable mud resistant watch.
The Casio G-Shock 9300 Movement
They work by harnessing the power of light, be it natural or artificial and converting it into electrical energy using a solar cell. This is then stored in a rechargable battery to power a quartz style movement.
A key benefit to solar watches is of course, the fact you never need to replace a battery, it’s eco-friendly and money saving.
