My Initial Thoughts On This Watch
You can understand why G-shock are one of the go to watches for people looking for toughness and durability. They feature a 10 year battery life, 10 bar water resistance and a 10 metre G-shock drop resistance. All these features combined into a watch in this price range is impressive so you can see why so many people go for it. Other notable features include stop watch, alarm, back light and a protective scratch resistant mineral glass.
Type of glass
This G-Shock features a scratch resistant mineral glass, this style of crystal glass is specially hardened and will resist most scratches. It’s not as strong as a sapphire glass but you shouldn’t expect that at this sort of price. All in all it’s what I would expect with this watch so it’s fair value for money.
The diameter of the watch casing is 48mm which is classed as extra large. The thickness of the watch is 15mm. Overall this gives it a sturdy durable feel. It’s going to stand out on the wrist quite a bit at 48mm. To put that into prospective most men’s watches these days are 42mm so it’s considerably bigger. This does however fit into the watches sporty hard wearing design.
The calendar on the watch has standard day and date features within the digital screen. Pretty standard for a watch of this design coming from Casio.
Watch strap and clasp
The watch strap is made of a hardened resin that’s perfect for shock absorption. The width of the strap is 20mm and uses a standard buckle clasp. Great to see they’ve gone for this resin though as it fits in with the durability aspect of the watch.

When the were originally designing the G-Shock series the designers brief was for an ‘unbreakable’ watch with a ‘triple 10’ concept. This was a 10 year battery, 10 bar water resistance and a 10m drop G-Shock resistance. Well they definitely achieved what that set out to do, the G-Shock range are well known to be extremely robust watches and at a very fair affordable price if you ask me.
