First up in today’s list of the best automatic watches under £500 is this beautiful Hamilton Khaki automatic. Hamilton offers a wide range of highly regarded timepieces. This day date watch is built with a 40mm stainless steel casing that has a thickness of 11mm, it’s been paired with a soft genuine leather strap that fastens with a buckle style clasp.

Features of this timepiece include an easy to read dial design with enlarged hour markers and luminous hands for better visibility in dim lit conditions. A sapphire crystal glass for excellent scratch protection. And a 50m water resistance rating.

You can view the automatic self winding movement through the rear exhibition caseback. This movement is a 25 jewel H-40 calibre with an extended power reserve of 80 hours, this is almost double the industry standard.

Junkers happens to be one of my favourite German made watch brands. This is the Junkers 60605 automatic, it’s a 40mm stainless steel INOX casing with a thickness of 12mm. The strap is made of genuine leather in a 20mm width and fastens with a buckle style clasp.

This is a very impressive gents watch that features a high quality 26 jewel self-winding automatic movement with a power reserve of 40 hours. Just like the previous watch, you can view this movement working away through the rear exhibition caseback.

Protecting the dial is a mineral crystal glass, this offers a good blend of scratch and shatter resistance. Last but not least, the watch has a 30m water resistance rating, this is ok for the odd splash but you wouldn’t want to get it too wet.

Victorinox are a well known Swiss watch brand that offers great value for money. This particular model is built with a high quality I.N.O.X stainless steel casing that has a diameter of 43mm and a thickness of 13.5mm. The Swiss made mechanical watch is perfect for casual or serious attire and is built with the highest quality standards.

Protecting that beautifully designed and textured dial is an anti reflective coated sapphire crystal lens for excellent protection from scratches. Powering the watch is a Swiss made automatic movement for brilliant accuracy and reliability. In from Rotary’s Les Originales collection is this high end men’s dress watch that’s made in Switzerland. The stylish GS90161/32 has a 42mm stainless steel casing with a thickness of 12mm. Note the hidden crown design, the way it’s built into the casing. This watch comes with a genuine leather strap and fastens with a buckle clasp

It features a domed sapphire crystal glass for excellent scratch protection for the dial. Speaking of the dial, it comes in a light cream colour with slim silver coloured hands and hour markers. There’s also a useful date display found at the 6 o’clock position.

Powering this Rotary watch is a self-winding Swiss made automatic movement, you can view this through the rear exhibition style caseback. The water resistance rating is 100m.

If you’re a fan of pilot watches then this addition from Ingersoll is a high quality, affordable way to go. Ingersoll are well known for their large range of automatic watches, many of which feature skeleton style dials, but for today I’ve selected this aviation piece.

This automatic watch features a large 45mm dial with a fairly thick 16mm thickness. The dial has a lovely textured finish to it and makes use of enlarged hands and hour markers for an easy to read dial. There’s also a useful day date display at the 3 o’clock position.

Protecting the dial is a scratch resistant mineral crystal glass, mineral glass also offers a good amount of shatter resistance too. At the heart of this timepiece is a beautiful 21 jewel automatic movement, this again can be viewed through the rear exhibition caseback. This model also comes with a 100m water resistance rating.

If you love oversized watches this Grand Diver should grab your attention. I love the style of this rose gold plated stainless steel watch Bulova. The Bulova 97A109 is a 45mm beauty that comes with a soft brown genuine leather strap.

The dial features rose gold plated detailing to the hands and hour markers with lume for extra visibility in dim lit conditions. It also sits with a keyhole skeleton heart for you to view through to the 21 jewel automatic self-winding movement working away.

It’s a slightly smaller watch than normal with a 38mm stainless steel casing and a thickness of just 9.1mm.

You’ll be pleased to hear this model comes with a high quality sapphire crystal glass for excellent scratch protection. Power the timepiece is a beautifully made Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement with 25 jewels. The Mido Barconcelli comes with a 50m water resistance rating.

The Tissot PRC200 is a very popular range of the T-sport collection, they’re built for performance. The main selling point of this watch is the incredible Powermatic 80 movement which gives the watch a power reserve of up to 80 hours. This is a Swiss made 23 jewel high end automatic movement. This Orient watch comes from their sports collection, it is built with a decent sized 42mm stainless steel casing and has a thickness of 13mm.

At the heart of this Japanese watch is a F6922 caliber 22 jewel automatic movement. An excellent sapphire crystal glass protects the dial from scratches. Additional features include luminous hands and hour markers, a day date display, uni-directional bezel and a screw down crown. It also comes with a 200m water resistance rating.

Last up in our list of the best men’s automatic watches under £500 is this diving timepiece from Seiko. I’ve actually got a detailed Seiko SKX007 review available if you’d like to read up about this model in full.

The Seiko SKX007 is one of the best recommended Seiko diving watches available. This timepiece is built with a 42mm stainless steel casing and features a uni-directional bezel, the thickness of the watch comes in at 13mm. The large 26mm wide rubber strap has proven to be a fan favourite.

As with any good diving watch, this model features a large and clear easy to read dial design. Note the thick hands and hour markers that are coated in lume for better visibility in dim lit conditions.

Powering this Seiko dive watch is a quality automatic movement. A mineral crystal glass gives you a decent level of resistance against both scratches and shattering, ideal for a diving watch. One of the best features of this Seiko is the Diver’s 200m water resistance rating, this is great for most diver’s requirements.
