Hello, today I’m doing a Seiko SNZH53 review. Up next as I make my way through some of the most popular Seiko watches is the SNZH53. This model runs on a self-winding automatic Japanese movement and has a nice large easy to read display.

Seiko SNZH53 Watch Review

Dial & Case Design

The overall design of this Seiko timepiece is a sports/diver’s finish. It features a nice uni-directional rotating bezel with minute numbering. The dial is finished in this nice blue shade and features the 5 shield at the 12 o’clock position. At the 3 o’clock position we find a day and date display that can often come in useful. The hands and hour markers of the watch are coated in lume making them easy to read in dim lit conditions.

The casing is made of a strong stainless steel and features an exhibition caseback that allows you to take a look at the inner workings of the watch, one of my favourite features that’s for sure.

Type Of Crystal

Protecting the front of the watch is Seiko’s Hardlex crystal glass. This type of glass is specially hardened to offer a good level of protection from scratches and knocks. It’s stronger than mineral glass but not quite as strong as sapphire crystal glass. Overall it’s very good and found in a lot of Seiko’s range.

Watch Movement

Powering the watch is the popular 7S36 self winding automatic movement. It has a nice smooth movement beating at 21,600 BPH which gives it 6 ticks per second. The movement has a 43 hour power reserve and doesn’t feature manual winding or hacking. This is a popular movement found in many of the Seiko 5 collection.

Watch Size

Being a type of sports/diver watch you can expect this to be a little larger than many of the more traditional smaller Seiko timepieces. This model has a casing diameter of 41mm and a thickness of 13mm. The bezel and diver’s style finish give it that thicker finish that a lot of people look for in this style of watch.

Strap

The strap is made of stainless steel and has a width of 22mm which goes nicely with the 41mm casing diameter. The strap fastens with a standard fold over style clasp that features a safety catch. You can take this strap off and replace it if you want to.

Extra Features

The watch has an exhibition style caseback that allows you to take a look at the inner workings of the timepiece. This is one of my favourite features on a watch, I’ve always enjoyed being able to take a look at the movement in action.

Water Resistance Rating

This watch features a very good 100m water resistance rating. This 100m or 10 bar rating makes it suitable for recreational surfing, swimming, snorkeling, sailing and water sports.
