Bulova Automatic Men’s Watch – 96A158 Review

Hello today I’m taking a look at this Bulova 96A158. Bulova are one of my favourite brands, I have a fair few in my personal collection now. I also had good fun making my top 10 Bulova watches post which I recommend checking out if you’re considering a Bulova.

Anyway I’ll get on with my 96A158 review below and you can find it on Amazon, enjoy.

Bulova 96A158 Review

My Thoughts On This Watch

This watch has such a nice elegant and smart feel to it. It’s pretty much your ideal low watch for smart or casual occasions. I’ve got this ridiculously huge Hugo Boss watch and as much as I love it every now and then I prefer to go for something much more subtle, that’s where this would come in great.

The automatic self winding movement actually gives the second hand a smooth continuous rotation rather than a tick. If you haven’t seen this sort of feature before they’re pretty nice on the eye. Something a lot of more expensive watches actually aim for is to get closer to a continuous turn rather than the tick.

Something I’m sadly not so keen on is the basic fold over clasp for the bracelet. It may just be me but I’m a massive fan of the butterfly clasps. I just feel Bulova could have added one like this and excelled the design even more. That being said the design of the bracelet itself has a nice effect.

The glass on the window dial is a mineral crystal. This is considered a good standard when it comes to scratch protection. You’ll notice cheaper watches going for an acrylic that isn’t as good. A better glass would be a sapphire crystal but then you would expect the price to shoot up a bit. At this price, the mineral crystal is what I would expect so I’m quite pleased with it.

The diameter of the watch is classed as large being 42mm but this is really the minimum I would want these days. While the thickness is 11mm which is pretty much an average size.

The self winding movement on the Bulova 96A158 means you’ll never have to replace a battery, some great things about this is that you’re saving a nice amount of money each time you would have had to change and B you’re never going to come to wear your watch out and notice you can’t as it’s run out. Having over 60 watches I can tell you the running out thing can be a pain!

Conclusion

What more can I really say? I love Bulova watches and this one meets my expectations and I’m also a fan of skeleton & automatic watches. Well yeah probably, but I also give 100% honesty on this site so you’ll have to trust me!
