Hello, today I’m doing a Rotary GS00652/21 review. I recently wrote an article on the 10 best Rotary Skeleton watches for men and promised I’d take a closer look at each one of the watches featured in that list. Today we’re taking a look at the GS00652/21 as it’s next on my list to complete. This model has a very high end luxury feel to it with it’s PVD gold plated casing, time to take a closer look.

Watch Review

Dial & Case Design

My favourite part of this watch is the open heart exposed skeleton dial. It allows you to take a look at how the automatic movement works within the watch, something I’m always impressed by. The stainless steel casing is PVD gold plated to give it that luxury finish. The hands and hour markers have this same gold PVD plating too. It’s worth mentioning that the hands a coated with lume for extra visibility in dim lit conditions.

Type Of Crystal

The watch has a front and rear glass that are made of mineral crystal glass that’s been specially hardened to offer better scratch and knock resistance. Mineral glass also has a good level of shatter resistance than can give you that added bit of protection in case you do ever drop your watch.

Watch Movement

At the heart of the watch is a lovely looking jewelled automatic mechanical movement. This self-winding movement powers itself from the wearer’s wrist movement and never requires any batteries. You can also view the movement through that exhibition caseback that you can see in the image further below.

Watch Size

As for watch sizing, it’s all fairly standard with these Rotary watches. It has a casing diameter of 40mm with a case thickness of 11mm. This is a fairly popular size for men’s watches and likely to be suitable for most people.

Strap

The strap is made of a sleek black genuine leather that’s very soft and comfortable. The strap has a width of 20mm that’s in keeping with the rest of the watch specifications. It fastens with a standard buckle clasp that has a matching PVD gold plating to the rest of the watch.

Extra features

One of the top features in my opinion is the exhibition caseback that can be seen in the image below. The exhibition caseback allows you to take a peek at the inner workings of the watch from the rear of the timepiece.

Water Resistance Rating

This watch has a water resist rating of 50m. A rating of 50m / 5 Bar / 150ft makes this watch suitable for recreational surfing, swimming, snorkeling, sailing and water sports.

Watch Disadvantages

If left unworn for more than a day or so the watch will need to be reset and the time adjusted before wearing again. This is a standard process for automatic watches.

The Rotary GS00653/21 is yet again another beautiful addition to the Rotary family. These skeleton watches are some of my favourite automatic watches available. They offer brilliant style at a very affordable price point.
