A lawsuit of false advertising is being brought against FitBit over it’s monitoring devices which are allegedly “wildly inaccurate”. The devices which are sold by the leading maker of fitness trackers “are mis-recording heart rates by a very significant margin”. The complaint also stated they were “on the brink of causing health risks for users” according to their lawsuit filed this week in San Francisco federal court.

A woman from Colorado alleges that her Charge Hr under-reported her actual heart rate by as much as 50%, as recorded by her personal trainer manually after a period of intense exercise. According to the complaint that’s been brought on behalf of other customers as a class action “Scores of customer complaints confirm these are not isolated incidents,”.
Fitbit’s spokeswoman Heather Pierce stated in an email for the company that ” We do not believe this case has merit,” and “Fitbit stands behind our heart rate technology and strongly disagrees with the statements made in the complaint and plans to vigorously defend the lawsuit.”
