Seiko Men’s 5 Automatic Watch SNXS77 Review

Seiko Men’s 5 Automatic Watch SNXS77 Review.

So today I’m doing a review of the series 5 Seiko SNXS77 watch. The 5 series was introduced by Seiko back in the 1960s and they had 5 key features, hence the ‘5’.

  • Automatic winding
  • Day/date displayed in a single window
  • Water resistance
  • Recessed crown at the 4 o’clock position
  • Durable case and bracelet

These are a quality selection of watches that have continued to be some of Seiko’s most popular. I’m focusing on this one for my review today but I’ll hopefully be highlighting more of their watches in the near future.

Anyway I’ll get on with my SNXS77 review below and you can find out the price on Amazon today, enjoy.

Seiko SNXS77 Series 5 review

My Initial Thoughts On This Watch

This watch may not look as impressive as a lot of the big watches you see around these days but this is all about the classic design whilst offering what can only be classed as very impressive value for money. As mentioned earlier the 5 series focuses on some great features.

Will it win the sexiest watch of the year aware? No. But it is highly functional and durable which I know is something a lot of you consider more important that looks.

Type of glass

This model features Seiko’s proprietary Hardlex glass. This is a glass that’s specially hardened to be extra resistant to scratches and knocks. It’s tougher than mineral glass but still softer than sapphire. It’s quite popular and found on many of Seiko’s watches.

Size

This is more your classic sized men’s watch with a casing diameter of 38mm. This is classed as average size, these days a lot of watches that are coming out are actually 42mm so it’s worth noting if you’re comparing the size to another watch you have. The thickness of the case is 12mm which is considered a large.

Calendar

There isn’t actually a date feature on this watch so you’ll have to decide how fussed you are about having this feature. I’m quite happy skipping out on the date feature on a watch as I honestly rarely use it. I consider them more of a style piece on a watch these days.

Watch strap and clasp

The Seiko SNXS77 has a stainless steel strap with a standard fold over clasp. This is what you would expect on a watch that aims for functionality. The strap is 19mm wide which is just below your standard size.

Conclusion

One more thing to touch upon is the automatic movement, now I love watches with this style of movement. They automatically wind themselves using the kinetic movement of your wrist which is an interesting feature.

All in all the Seiko SNXS77 offers exceptional value for money in my view, it’s a classic design watch so not much in the way of any  fancy bells or whistles going on with the dial etc.
