Seiko SNZG15 Watch Review Summary

My rating: 9/10. Seiko 5 automatic watch. 100m water resistance rating.

Hello, today I’m doing a Seiko SNZG15 review. I’m slowly working my way through all of the most popular Seiko 5 watches currently available. This model features the popular 7S36 caliber self-winding automatic 23 jewel movement as well as a 100m water resistance rating. It’s a great looking field-style watch that offers good value for money, so I’m excited to showcase this model today.

Dial & Case Design

Here we have another one of Seiko’s most popular timepieces. The model has a nice simple dial design with both a 12 and 24 hour display on show. The hands and hour markers have a coating of lume to make them easier to read in dim lit conditions. There’s also a day and date display at the 3 o’clock position which fits in quite nicely.

The casing is made of a strong stainless steel and features an exhibition caseback that allows you to take a look at the inner workings of the watch, one of my favourite features that’s for sure.

Type Of Crystal

The black analogue dial is protected by a Seiko Hardlex crystal glass. This is a sturdy glass that offers a good level of scratch and knock protection, it’s tougher than mineral glass but weaker than sapphire crystal glass.

Watch Movement

At the heart of the watch is a Japanese 7S36 automatic self-winding movement. This movement has a 43-hour power reserve and beats at 21,600 BPH. This gives the watch a nice smooth 6 ticks per second that gives a nicer flow than a 1 tick per second quartz movement.

Watch Size

The casing diameter is of a decent size measuring 42mm without the crown. The thickness of the case comes in at approximately 11mm which should sit nicely on the wrist too. This is a fairly popular medium-large watch size that should suit most people. People with smaller wrists may find it a little too large for them though.

Strap

The band is made of a black coloured canvas that’s nice and sturdy as well as offering a good level of comfort. The strap measures 22mm across which is in-keeping with the casing size and fastens with a buckle style clasp. The strap is replaceable so if you do wish to swap it out to something different there’s always the option to do so.

Extra Features

The watch features a good coating of lume on the hands and adjacent to the hour markers. One of my favourite features of this watch is the exhibition caseback that lets you take a peek at the inner workings of the automatic movement from the rear of the watch.

Water Resistance Rating

This watch features a very good 100m water resistance rating. This 100m or 10 bar rating makes is suitable for recreational surfing, swimming, snorkeling, sailing and water sports.

My Final Thoughts On This Seiko SNZG15 Review:

It’s well worth checking out my 14 Best Seiko 5 watches where you can take a look at many of the top timepieces from Seiko. I like the simpler finish of this model which makes it ideal for day to day wear in my opinion. Considering the automatic movement, 100m water resistance rating, and the exhibition caseback I’d say this watch is well worth the money.
