SKX007K Review

My Initial Thoughts On The Seiko SKX007K

It’s nice to see a proper diver’s watch as I don’t often get to feature them here. When I say proper diver’s watch, I mean a water resistance rating that allows for scuba diving, for instance this watch has a 200m diver’s standard rating, which is different to a normal 200m. This Seiko watch has a few features I rate quite highly. For one I’m a big fan of automatic watches which power themselves from the motion of the wearers arm, this means no more battery changing etc, a nice money saver especially on diver’s watches when you have to start replacing rubber seals . I also rather like the large rubber strap perfect for completing that diver’s watch look.

Type of glass

The Seiko SKX007K features hardlex glass which is a type of specially hardened mineral glass that you find on Seiko, Pulsar and Lorus watches as it was developed by Seiko. It offers a good level of scratch resistance which is perfect for this style of watch.

Size

This watch has pretty standard men’s sizing. The case has a diameter of 42mm which is classed as large but is pretty typical of most men’s watches these days. The thickness of the case is 13mm which is again considered a large but suits this watch nicely.

Calendar

Without taking up too much space on the dial they’ve managed to include a simple day and date calendar display. It’s nice to see it included in this subtle way as I think sometimes they can take up too much space on a watch, this seems perfect to me though.

Watch strap and clasp

The Seiko SKX007K has an extra comfortable rubber strap that’s perfect for diving. The strap has a width of 22mm which fits in with the rest of the watch sizing rather nicely. As you would expect it uses a standard buckle clasp which is easy to operate and gives you the easy ability to vary the tightness of the strap.
